NESA’s Jeffrey Payne hosted another edition of the Digital Maritime Series on 01 July, “Europe’s Maritime Perspectives between the Suez and Malacca.” In this digital discussion of the Indian Ocean Region, the perspectives of European powers are discussed by prominent experts, including Dr. Antoine Levesques and Mr. Viraj Solonaki of IISS, Ms. Veerle Nouwens of RUSI, and Dr. Frédéric Grare of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Topics of discussion include how the Covid-19 pandemic is impacting the Indian Ocean Region, how to prioritize coordination and cooperation within the region, and how major power competition is impacting regional states.
