The Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies hosted the annual Iraq Capstone event in Washington, D.C., from 22 July – 2 August 2024. A senior delegation of representatives from the Iraq interagency participated in a robust program comprised of best practices from senior United States professional military education programs, subject matter experts delivered content of vital interest to senior policymakers, and exercises designed to apply learning in policy development. During the two-week course, the group conducted a staff ride at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, attended a NESA Center-hosted Washington Seminar focused on the upcoming U.S. Presidential election at the Army-Navy Club, and toured the U.S. National Defense University at Fort Lesley J. McNair. Presentations were delivered by faculty from the NESA Center, the Eisenhower School, the Center for Applied Strategic Learning, and the Institute for National Security Studies. The NESA Center is planning on hosting another Iraqi delegation in the summer of 2025.
