From 24–26 June 2024, the Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies, in cooperation with the National Maritime Foundation of India and its sister regional center, Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS), conducted a 2024 Indian Ocean Region Workshop in Bangkok, Thailand. As the fourth iteration of this event, the focus this year was on how maritime security and maritime domain awareness can be furthered through coordination amongst states and between state entities and private sector stakeholders, including academia, research institutions, technological firms, and shipping firms. Thirty-one participants took part, hailing from eleven countries. The event was led by NESA faculty member Jeffrey Payne and constitutes part of the NESA Center’s ongoing engagement on maritime issues, the Indian Ocean, and the Indo-Pacific concept.
