On October 8, 2020, the NESA Center hosted Qatari Ambassador to the U.S., H.E. Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad Al-Thani, for a virtual discussion exclusive to NESA faculty and staff. NESA director, LTG Terry Wolff led the discussion. Ambassador Al-Thani began the event with opening remarks giving a general overview of U.S.-Qatar relations, and Qatar’s involvement in regional politics. Afterwards, Ambassador Al-Thani answered questions from NESA faculty on topics such as: the US-Qatar Strategic Dialogue, Qatar’s role in the Afghan-Taliban peace process, prospects of normalization with Israel, Iran, the upcoming election in the U.S., and Qatar’s perspective on renewable energy.
