Senior Executive Forum: Missile Defense, Drones, and Changing Technologies Across Domains
The NESA Center convened 33 senior security professionals from across the globe for the Senior Executive Forum (SEF‑CT 01‑26), held 9–13 February 2026 at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. The week‑long program, “Missile Defense, Drones, and Changing Technologies Across Domains,” explored the rapid evolution of critical and emerging technologies and their strategic impact on contemporary national security.

Led by Course Director Professor Jeff Payne and Co‑Director LTG (Ret.) Terry Wolff, the forum examined how innovations—from drones and autonomous systems to advanced ISR and cyber tools—are reshaping military operations, defense planning, and geopolitical competition. Participants engaged with distinguished scholars, industry leaders, and U.S. government experts offering diverse perspectives on technology integration, proliferation challenges, great‑power competition, and the strategic implications of AI‑driven capabilities.
Throughout the week, sessions addressed topics including emerging technology in warfare, autonomy and artificial intelligence, space and aerospace security, ISR modernization, cyber and information challenges, maritime security, and the intersection of diplomacy, preparedness, and technology. Speakers included experts from NDU, CSIS, Lockheed Martin, Saab Executive, DTRA, the Special Competitive Studies Project, and other partner institutions.
A core feature of the forum was a multi‑stage breakout exercise built around an evolving emergency scenario. Participants collaborated to analyze emerging‑technology challenges and propose strategic responses, culminating in final group presentations on the closing day.
Graduates of the seminar join the Center’s broader alumni community—strengthening a network dedicated to advancing regional security cooperation and informed dialogue on the role of technology in modern conflict.
