The Revolution in Modern Air Attack and Air Defense: Drones, Missiles, Missile Defense, and Electronic Warfare

From 9–13 June 2025, the Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies held a program titled “The Revolution in Modern Air Attack and Air Defense: Drones, Missiles, Missile Defense, and Electronic Warfare.” It was held virtually with about 111 participants from 30 countries. Presenters were drawn from a variety of international security and academic organizations and were among the world’s thought leaders in the subject. Participants were encouraged to contribute to the discussion and to ensure open dialogue, the seminar was conducted under the Chatham House Rule of non-attribution.

The five-day seminar included sessions on the following topics:

  • Changed Air Defense Environment: Drones and Missiles
  • The Ukraine War: Innovation in Drone and Missile Warfare
  • The Evolving Threat of Drones and Missiles: Rapid Adaptation
  • Drone and Missile Defense Considerations
  • The Next Threat: Innovations in Missile and Drone Proliferation and Attacks
  • Integrating Drones and Drone Defenses into Small Units
  • Evolving Missile Defense to Meet New Threats
  • Wrapping it All Up: A Framework for Drone / Missile Defense
