Women, Peace & Security: Jordan

On August 18 the NESA Center hosted a discussion, facilitated by Dr. Gawdat Bahgat, on Women Peace & Security with participants from Jordan with backgrounds in education and journalism. The conversation revolved around the impacts of education, religion, culture, and the economy on women’s equality. Of particular consideration was the impact of regional conflicts on the lives of Jordanian women. Progress was noted in women’s participation in education and the workforce, although changing the narrative and stereotypes about a woman’s role in society remains a challenge.
