On August 5 2020, NESA hosted a discussion on Women, Peace & Security with participants from Tunisia with backgrounds in academia and civil society. The discussion was facilitated by NESA professor Dr. Gawdat Bahgat. The role of education and the impact of the Arab Spring on women’s rights in Tunisia were the primary topics of discussion. Progress was noted in the legal measures taken to ensure equality, although changing the culture surrounding the role of women remains an ongoing challenge.
