On 5–6 October 2023, the NESA Center for Strategic Studies, in partnership with the Middle East Institute (MEI), held track II talks between the U.S. and Russia in Istanbul, Türkiye. Representatives from the NESA Center included Dr. Roger Kangas and Dr. Gawdat Bahgat. The Russian delegation included representatives from civil society and think tanks. The discussion focused on the war in Ukraine and its impact on Russia’s economy and foreign policy, as well as bilateral relations between the U.S. and Russia.
